Illuminations

Essential media about the arts

About us

Illuminations is a production company and media publisher. We specialise in films about the arts, and we also make great programmes about religion, history and ideas. Our daily blog is about these films, and about the arts and the digital world.

Over twenty-five years we have developed an international reputation for intelligent, incisive and high quality film-making. We have produced more than 250 documentaries and performance films, and our work has been recognised by both an International Emmy and a BAFTA, as well as numerous other awards and festival screenings.

Today, as well as continuing to work with broadcasters and digital channels, we produce, publish and distribute an outstanding catalogue of DVDs. All of these can be bought directly through this website, and licenced for educational or museum use.

You can download a copy of our 2008 catalogue here.

We also create educational and promotional media in collaborations with a wide range of museums, galleries, performance groups and other organisations. Recent films made with us have been used online, presented in exhibitions, projected on outdoor screens and given away on memory sticks. We put collaboration at the heart of this work and we aim to achieve exceptional quality even on modest budgets.

Plus, we have an extensive library of archive material, especially about the visual arts in Britain since 1990, and we would be delighted to help you with any enquiries about clip sales.

Information about all of our projects and programmes can be found here, but do please contact us if you have any thoughts or questions.
