Illuminations is an independent production company and media publisher.

We specialise in making and distributing films about the arts, and we also produce great programmes about religion, history and ideas. Our daily blog is about these films, and about the arts, the future of television and digital media in general.

BROADCAST: twenty-five years of programmes
We have produced more than 250 documentaries and performance films for television, and we have worked with numerous artists and creative filmmakers. Visual art is a particular focus, but so too is dance, music and the theatre, as well as historical subjects and religious topics.

Our work has been recognised by both an International Emmy and a BAFTA, as well as numerous other awards and festival screenings. We're proud of our international reputation for intelligent and innovative filmmaking.

As well as continuing to work with broadcasters and digital channels, we produce, publish and distribute an outstanding catalogue of DVDs. All of these can be bought directly through this website, and licenced for educational or museum use.

SERVICES: media for museums and cultural organisations
We also create educational and promotional media with and for a wide range of museums, galleries, performance companies and other organisations. We put collaboration at the heart of this work and we aim to achieve exceptional quality even on modest budgets.

Recent clients include English Heritage, Tate, the V&A, the Coexist Foundation and National Portrait Gallery, and films made with us have been used online, presented in exhibitions, projected on outdoor screens and given away on memory sticks. More details on our partners are here.
