JOHN WYVER

John Wyver is a writer and producer, and the co-founder in 1982 of Illuminations.  He has produced numerous programmes for television with the company, most especially about the arts and about digital media. He is the recipient of the Royal Television Society’s Silver Medal recognising Distinguished Services to Television, and his productions have been recognised with an International Emmy, a BAFTA and other awards. He is also currently Visiting Professor at the University of Westminster.

John’s current productions include A Golden Age, a configurable documentary project about the arts in Elizabethan England; the 12-part “art road trip” Artland: USA; the DVDs Turner at Tate and Constable at Tate; and productions for Illuminations’ series of contemporary artist profiles theEYE. He has been Series Editor of the BBC2 magazine strand about digital culture The Net (1994-1998), and also Series Editor of the strand of contemporary cultural documentaries Tx. (1995-1999).

His other work as a producer for television includes innovative programmes about the visual arts, including the six-part series about ideas and images in the 1980s, State of the Art (1987); programmes about video art, including two series of Ghosts in the Machine (1986 and 1988); and major performance films including Gloriana, A Film (1999) and Macbeth (2001).

He has written and lectured extensively about television and new media technologies, and is the author of The Moving Image: An International History of Film, Television and Video (Blackwell/BFI Publishing, 1990). Forthcoming (Wallflower Press, 2007) is a book about media and the arts in Britain from 1951 to the present. From 1977 to 1981 he was Television Editor of Time Out, and his writings have been published in The Guardian and Independent, Wired, Sight and Sound, The Listener, Art Monthly and Screen.


LINDA ZUCK

Linda Zuck is Managing Director of Illuminations. She has produced Illuminations' pioneering nostalgia archive evenings, as well as numerous single documentaries and live coverage of the Turner Prize since 1995. Linda also oversees client liaison for Illuminations' promotional media commissions.

After working in academic publishing and magazine journalism, including a period as London correspondent of the French television magazine Télé Sept Jours, Linda joined Illuminations initially as a researcher in 1985. Since 1987, she has been producing a wide range of the company's programme output.

Her work as a producer includes the Illuminations’ annual live coverage of the Turner Prize from 1995 to 2005; the series with Jarvis Cocker, Journeys into the Outside (1999); and many of Illuminations' archive-based programmes, including the major 13-night series TV Heaven (1992). Other documentaries produced by Linda include Roland Barthes: Writing Degree Zero (1990), The King Meets the President (1995), about the day that Elvis met Nixon, Doing Dallas (2000), a celebratory documentary about the television series, and All About Desire: The Films of Pedro Almodovar (2002).
       
In 2005 Linda directed Turks, a documentary for Five to coincide with the major Royal Academy exhibition. She has recently co-produced two 3-part series for Five, X-Rated (2005) and How "X" Conquered the World (2006).


SEB GRANT


Seb Grant is Head of Production at Illuminations.

As a producer and director he has worked across all the UK terrestrial channels as well as numerous digital channels both nationally and internationally.

Producer credits include a critically acclaimed production of Macbeth (2000) for Channel Four and a 90' minute documentary, The Private Lives of Pompeii (2001), also for Channel 4. Other credits include There Will Be Something Later (2005), the winning Dance Academy film for BBC4.

Recent director credits include The British Face (2005), a two-part series presented by Fiona Shaw about portraiture for Five, and the films Shakespeare's Globe (2005) and Dulwich Picture Gallery (2006). Close to completion is a 12-part series, Artland: USA, the result of an 8 week "art road trip" from west to east coast America with the crew travelling in a specially designed Winnebago.

Despite having worked and travelled in over 60 countries, Seb is pleased to report that he is yet to witness a haircut as ludicrous as his own.


LOUISE MACHIN

Louise Machin joined Illuminations in August 2000, initially as a producer for fathom.com, and from 2001 as the company's Head of Business Development.

Prior to this Louise worked in academic publishing as a Marketing Manager and International Sales Manager for Routledge, covering a range of important overseas markets, before leaving to study Spanish in Latin America in 1999. In 2000, Louise completed a full-time MA in Cinema & Television at Birkbeck College.

Louise has overseen the production and sale of an ambitious slate of programmes at Illuminations, which are often created independently of any specific broadcaster or funder. This has involved forging important links with a wide range of distribution channels, including broadcasters, booksellers, galleries and museums, schools and colleges. Through this work, close relationships have been built with prominent institutions such as Tate and the V&A, as well as other museums and galleries in the UK and overseas.

There are now over sixty programmes in the Illuminations catalogue, including the pioneering series, theEYE, which is a range of interview-based profiles of prominent contemporary artists such as Antony Gormley, Tracey Emin and Chris Ofili. Other important films include AZTECS, The Sculpture 100 and The Art of Henry Moore. Current productions are Turner at Tate and Constable at Tate, and Islamic Art at the V&A, being produced to coincide with the opening of the new Jameel gallery of Islamic Art in 2006.

AJAY HOTHI

Ajay Hothi joined Illuminations in February 2005, as Publishing Manager. He works closely with Louise to look after a wide range of publishing projects and has developed strong relationships with both artists and customers. He also oversees the production of DVDs and promotional material. Among otherprojects, Ajay has worked on the two-part series The British Face and film profiles for theEYE, including Liliane Lijn, Dryden Goodwin and Langlands & Bell.

Prior to Illuminations, Ajay was involved in the production of promotional videos for practical film courses that enabled school leavers to acquire basic skills training. Ajay graduated from the University of London in 2004 with a degree in Film and Art History.


LUCIE CONRAD

Lucie Conrad joined Illuminations in early 2006 as Producer on the Golden Age Project, a research project on configurable media and interactive documentary production, commissioned by the EC. Other work at Illuminations has included the dance film, There Will Be Something Later, produced for BBC4, and Harold Pinter's Nobel Prize-winning acceptance speech, Art, Truth & Politics.

Lucie's background is in performing arts. She has worked in television for a number of years (Landseer, Oxford, NVC Arts, Diverse, Silverapples) concentrating mainly on arts-related programmes ranging from documentaries, such as Dance Umbrella @ 25, Arena: Shadowing the Third Man, to studio productions and live multi-camera broadcasts.
