Our first cover-mount
Date: 01 August 2008
On sale now is the new issue of Art World, a new bi-monthly magazine about contemporary art. The August/September issue features a handsome cover with a work by Jake and Dinos Chapman and a free DVD with around an hour of materials drawn from our films.
There are 10 substantial extracts from episodes of theEYE on the giveaway disc, each of which has an artist speaking about what inspires them. Among those included is Conrad Shawcross from our recent release, plus Antony Gormley, Michael Craig-Martin and Tracey Emin. Inside there's also a feature about Illuminations and the series. As Ben Luke accurately describes the approach of theEYE, "Strikingly, the films are made entirely without music; instead they comprise simple, beautiful images of art, with the artist talking about the work."
The extracts on the DVD can also be seen at the magazine's Art World TV (follow the link on the home page).
The magazine itself, available for the first time this month on news stands, is a handsome publication that includes a feature by Will Self with the Chapmans and substantial features on, among many others, Gary Hume, Michael Landy and Neo Rauch.
